Mechanical Assembler Drivetrain

Job Description

As a Drivetrain Assembler you will fit and assemble drivetrain components such as planetaries, axles, transmissions, and gearboxes to build equipment dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, a combination of technical skills is required, including reading and following engineering blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to attach and install parts and sub-assemblies.

95 Washburn Drive, Kitchener, ON

Dedicated Afternoon Shift:

3:30pm - 2:00am, Monday - Thursday

Shift Premium:

$3.00 per hour



Job Duties

Read and interpret assembly blueprints, schematics, or specification manuals to ensure the meticulous assembly through fit and alignment. Align components for assembly and bolt, screw, and rivet parts together, using hand and power tools Use liquid nitrogen or heaters to install bearings or gears Press bearings into/onto gears; check contact patterns on gears Install hydraulic hoses and fittings; set and verify parts clearances Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib) to complete large assembly installations. Inspect, operate, and test completed parts of machinery to verify functioning, machine capabilities, or conformance to customer specifications Repair or replace defective assemblies, components, accessories, and attachments.

Skills and Experience

Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members. Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.

Qualifications

Experience working with gears, engines and hydraulics is preferred. Previous related experience maintaining or repairing recreational vehicles, landscaping equipment, small engine repair, pre-apprenticeship training or other general construction/trades courses will also be considered. Experience reading blueprints or assembly drawings is an asset.
