to join our team in Burlington for a 3 month contract through the end of August.
The Mechanical Assembler will plan and perform a normal range of operations connected with the assembly of company-produced machines. Work involves working from complex drawings and a considerable number of component parts that require skill and care to align, fit, and assemble into machines and obtain exacting operating performance and appearance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Work from complex assembly drawings, specifications and instructions to plan work in proper sequences.
Mechanical assembly of complete labeling systems to exacting tolerances.
Use measuring instruments to level and align work, detect, and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances.
Detect defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties; provide necessary documentation to drive corrective actions
Rework, repair, or replace damaged parts or assemblies.
Perform final adjustments and machine start-up, debug and testing and customer acceptance testing.
Work within a team and independently with little supervision.
Manually machine parts as needed.
Effectively operate hand tools, power tools, etc.
Assist as necessary to maintain proper flow of work through assigned area Work within a team and independently with little supervision.
Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
Assist in generating and updating standard work instructions/procedures.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Maintain work areas and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe fashion.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Mechanical Technician or Technologist.
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience assembling machinery in a manufacturing environment (experience in automated labeling systems is a plus)
Knowledge of how to use a conventional Lathe and mill.
Mechanical Millwright or General Machinist license is an asset.
Ability to work within a cross-functional team.
Strong organization skills, with close attention to detail.
Work Environment
Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and frequently lifts and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Use of material handling equipment.
Manual dexterity required.
Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards.
Keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
Noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
Use of PPE, including safety glasses and steel toe boots required.
Overtime as required.
