Landform Inc. is a landscape construction company established in 2003 that services Calgary and the surrounding area. We offer Landscape Construction and Landscape Maintenance - creating and maintaining meaningful spaces such as parks, playgrounds, and restoration projects. In the winter we continue to support communities by offering Snow Removal services. Are you ambitious and eager to make your mark as part of our team as an Mechanical Apprentice? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a family-oriented company that is ever-growing. This position is located 10 minutes east Cross Iron Mills, 20 minutes from Airdrie and Northwest Calgary. The Mechanical Apprentice will report to the Mechanic Supervisor, a journeyman with over 30 years experience. They will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and assisting with repairs to landscaping, maintenance, construction and snow removal equipment. This position is open to 3rd or 4th year apprentices. At Landform, we excel through efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability. The winning candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, high attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to multitask, capable of handling situations as they arise. You are able to work independently and in a team-based environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Works alongside an assigned technician to learn to perform quality vehicle service maintenance and repairs
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
  • Work on many different types of machinery
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on company vehicles, trucks, and equipment
  • Use the company?s various apps/software to track and monitor service tickets and upcoming maintenance intervals
  • Write down requests for parts/consumables and other items on the department parts request sheet
  • Assist with the ordering of parts and inventory (oils, NAPA parts, gloves, etc)
  • Reduce time to complete work or overall ways for the company to reduce costs
  • Manages shop cleanliness and organization
  • Troubleshoot and service various maintenance, construction, and snow/ice removal equipment in both a shop environment and in the field as required
  • Utilize manuals and diagnostic equipment to perform work duties
  • Maintain work orders
Who you are:
  • 3rd or 4th year mechanical apprentice
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver?s License
  • Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed
  • Comfortability with landscape equipment and tools
  • Physically fit and professional
  • Able to work long hours (8-12 hours/day, 5-6 Days/Week)
  • Demonstrate care of equipment and tools
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in order to meet deadlines
  • Be willing to listen, learn, follow direction and accept constructive criticism from technician
  • Attention to detail
Regular full time shifts are Monday to Friday. Compensation will be based on experience. We look forward to hearing from you!
