Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.The Mechanical Maintenance Execution Team is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities for planned and unplanned preventative and repair maintenance tasks. They are expected to follow the weekly maintenance schedule and execute the work as planned based on equipment availability, while also responding to any repairs required during a process upset to ensure the plant continues to run. They enforce and implement safety programs (i.e.: Golden Rules, Toolbox Talks, CRM/LIF Audits, etc.) to help prevent accidents before they occur. They also work collaboratively with other disciplines and support where needed.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineering Student \xe2\x80\x93 Fall 2024 to join our Mechanical Maintenance Department. This is a 4-mont fixed term position. This position will be on a 4x10s schedule (Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Thursday OR Tuesday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday) working at the Long Harbour Operations Site in Long Harbour, NL.As a Mechanical Engineering Student, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Maintenance team. From operations to leadership development, diversity & inclusion, and culture, you will have a holistic and enriching experience like no other. Additionally, in this position, you will:

• Maintenance Engineering - Working with the maintenance engineer to review mechanical & instrumentation engineering drawings and specifications. Participating in troubleshooting of various Mandrel Plant equipment. Field verification of and updating electrical drawings.
• Reliability \xe2\x80\x93 Working with reliability engineers and advisors to improve the reliability of equipment throughout the plant by assisting to create maintenance plans, reliability initiatives such as FMEAs, RCAs, equipment condition monitoring initiatives, and other day-to-day activities.
• Quality Assurance \xe2\x80\x93 assisting with periodic internal audits to ensure written procedures stay relevant and up to date that includes the risk-based inspection program to create maintenance strategies for tanks, vessels, piping, and conducting periodic audits of construction contractors.
• Engineering Design \xe2\x80\x93 Working with the discipline engineers to develop detailed mechanical, piping, electrical & instrumentation engineering drawings and specifications. Maintaining the record of plant and participating in quality reviews of engineering contractor deliverables.
• Contract Coordination \xe2\x80\x93 coordinating the day-to-day interface with engineering and construction contractors, including ensuring timelines and other contractual requirements are being met by all parties and assisting with the preparation of scopes of work for contracts.
• Project Planning \xe2\x80\x93 Assisting with project schedule development during the planning phase by soliciting input from the project and discipline engineers and monitoring & controlling schedule progress during the Execution phase. This includes contractor oversight to ensure all schedules are aligned and their schedule reports meet Vale requirements.
• Document Control \xe2\x80\x93 Assisting with document management support and handling the transmission of formal communications to/from external contractors.
• Support the Safe Production Model of risk and hazard management and lead by example.
• Material management \xe2\x80\x93 Bill of materials reviews, order part, and stock coding
• Support materials management as well and warehouse material codification
• Preventive Maintenance optimization and implementation.
• Planning and scheduling support including working with SAP.

About YouEducation:

• Currently enrolled as a student in a Mechanical Engineering (Co-op) Program.

Skills:

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills and a proven safety record are essential.
