Job Description

The City of Corner Brook is presently accepting applications for the position of

Heavy DutyMechanic

(full time/permanent) within the Department of Engineering, Development & Operational Services (EDOS).

Reporting to the Mechanical Foreman or their designate, the Mechanic is responsible for all repairs on equipment used by the City of Corner Brook including heavy equipment, automotives, and small engines. This position is also responsible for inspecting and carrying out preventative maintenance of equipment; troubleshooting projects; using scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and various other tools; and other related duties as assigned.

The successful applicant must possess a Journeyperson's Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair and be in good standing and registered with the Department of Labour or equivalent, supplemented with at least 1 year of Journeyperson work experience. A standard tool box equipped with up to and including a basic inch drive tool set is required in addition to a valid Class 5 Newfoundland and Labrador Driver's License with air brake endorsement. Training in Occupational Health and Safety and other related fields would be considered assets.
