The Meat Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the meat department within a retail or grocery environment. Duties
Supervise daily operations of the meat department, ensuring all products meet quality standards.
Oversee food preparation and butchery processes, ensuring proper techniques are used for meat cutting.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste through effective packaging.
Train and mentor staff on meat handling, preparation techniques, and customer service skills.
Assist customers with inquiries regarding meat products and provide recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the meat department to promote a safe working environment.
Skills
Proven experience in the food industry, particularly within a retail or grocery setting.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and butchery skills.
Proficient in safe food handling practices and food safety regulations.
Experience with meat cutting tools and equipment.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
Prior meat cutting experience and management is preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership capabilities.
