MD Agronomist (term positions)

The Market Development Agronomist is jointly responsible with the Territory Sales Manager to achieve or exceed the established regional and territory sales targets by enabling the sales team success by utilizing their agronomic expertise to position the full Bayer portfolio of seed, crop protection, biologics and Climate FieldView for tailored solutions with customers. Management of large-scale field trial testing program generating commercial seed and crop protection data used to support product positioning and technical knowledge transfer. The Market Development field agronomist will also provide technical support and training with strategic retail partners and Bayer Territory Sales managers to enable selling with confidence. The Market Development Agronomist is expected to represent Bayer in a professional manner, championing corporate policies with respect to safety, business conduct, respect in the workplace and compliance in the performance of their duties and activities.

We have 2 openings for this opportunity. Both openings are a minimum of 12-months, and home-based which includes daily local travel within its\' territory.

Candidates may be based out of the following areas for each opening, accordingly: * Regina South (Regina, Weyburn, Estevan, Moose Jaw)

  • Regina North (Regina, Southey, Central Butte, Moose Jaw)

What you will do:
  • Execute field scale testing programs
  • Programs include field testing of commercial Bayer seed product trials for new product launches from all platforms with retails/growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain trials as needed, and harvest trials
  • Data management, quality review and timely submission of trial results.
  • Work with customer marketing to categorize and validate key product features and benefits for support material
  • Technical support and training for strategic retail partners and Bayer sales team
  • Work with Bayer sales team to achieve local business objectives through technical support and training. Retail support provided strategically based on business priorities
  • In-field and classroom agronomic training for key retails and Sales team.
  • Support sales for grower demand events and other face-to-face promotional activities
  • Support Territory Sales Managers with in-field diagnostic service for seed and crop protection product performance inquires requiring technical analysis
  • Provide technical information with seed, trait and chemistry products
  • Communicate agronomic position of seed products, benefits of trait products and benefits and uses of chemistry products
  • Ensure new technologies have proper profile with key growers and retail
  • Understand technical position of Bayer products compared to competitors
  • Sales and business support
  • Create annual Agronomy business plan for communication/alignment with sales team on activities to prioritize to support success of business
  • Position and support Bayer Seed, Crop Protection, Climate FieldView and Biologics to deliver Tailored Agronomic Solutions with sales and retail to meet or exceed territory targets
  • Support weed and crop protection management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed, trait and crop protection products
  • Communicate position of weed management, resistance strategies and other stewardship initiatives
  • Provide technical support and training for weed and crop protection management strategies and other stewardship initiatives as needed
  • Build profile as technical expert in territory
  • Build presence with key growers, retails, and 3rd party consultants
  • Develop content
  • Participate in industry events and organizations where appropriate
  • Create awareness with digital media as a technical expert for canola, corn, cereals and soybean production
  • Compliant with Bayer safety, and driving policies
  • Complete safety and driving training as required
  • Report injuries and accidents as required
  • Coordinate and participate in required safety meetings
  • Support safety initiatives at MD sites and locations
  • Recruit, hire, manage summer students
Who you are:
  • Minimum of a BSc Degree or equivalent in Agriculture or related discipline and experience in Agronomy, field development or R&D related experience
  • Understands basic crop production, agronomy and Bayer portfolio for corn, soybeans, canola, pulses and/or cereals
  • Assisted with organizing and executing trial programs
  • Familiar with IT systems for data management
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Business minded
  • Possess agronomy technical analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of Crop Protection Industry and Seed Business
  • Excellent relationship building and team skills
  • Excellent organization and time management
  • Advanced English written, verbal, and presentation skill set
  • Proactively able to lead technical training to internal and external staff
  • Problem solving through analytical thinking and judgments in complex situations
  • Worked with agronomists, provincial specialists etc.
  • Experience supporting sales is an asset
  • CCA, PAg and/or Order of Agronomist (QC) designation is an asset
