The current, centralized electricity system is not sustainable. Between the climate crisis, state-wide blackouts, aging infrastructure, and rising costs, the system needs a huge overhaul. The demand for electricity is high \xe2\x80\x93 and getting higher \xe2\x80\x93 and big power plants aren\'t meeting our needs. We say it\'s time to disrupt and decentralize.

At Peak Power, we\'re energy nerds that develop software for the real estate sector. Our tech turns commercial buildings and industrial facilities into virtual power plants in a new, decentralized electricity system. This means cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity. We\xe2\x80\x99re powering the clean energy revolution.

Peak Power develops and connects battery storage, grid-interactive buildings, and electric vehicle assets in a single software platform for partners to pursue net zero goals, cut operating expenses, and unlock new revenue opportunities.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the VP, Product, the Intern, Product Management will work with a talented group of within Product and Innovation in a fast-paced and exciting environment. This role will have an impact on the business through delivering a Commercialization Plan.

Peak Power has received funding from the IESO\'s Grid Innovation Fund for a new project called: \xe2\x80\x9cFeeder Level Forecasting and Data Disaggregation for Distributed Energy Resource and Electric Vehicle Identification\xe2\x80\x9d.

Peak Power, in collaboration with Oshawa Power and EnerForge, will develop a distribution-level forecasting tool that will include energy profile pattern recognition to improve visibility into Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and electric vehicles (EVs). The forecasting tool and methodology will apply machine learning techniques to metering datasets provided by Oshawa Power to identify the location of electric vehicle chargers and other consumer-owned DERs and forecast their impact on demand peaks.

This work matters. Even a small change to optimize electricity usage can significantly impact our customers, electrical grid, and environment. We\'re building something that will have a lasting, positive impact.

Our new Intern, Product Management will:

Deliver.

Create a Commercialization Plan, encompassing topics such as market opportunity, intellectual property, company and team, and revenue to support an application to secure grant funding.

Report.

Document a comprehensive report reflecting on lessons learnt from the process to be used as a guide for future projects with other partners.

Collaborate.

You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to build successful working relationships across the team

Grow.

You are a critical thinker who can seize opportunities to create value for Peak Power\xe2\x80\x99s long-term vision for optimizing power utilization and energy storage.

You take initiative to grow your skills while learning about the energy space

What you will bring to Peak Power:

The experience and education. Currently pursuing your MBA, with experience in a background in Engineering. You have exceptional research, analytical skills, and business acumen. Preferred experience within the energy space.
