Overview

The Innovation Services Department in the Innovation & Technology Division of WorkSafeBC is a small team of business innovation management and technology professionals. Innovation Services is responsible for coordinating synergies across the organization to bring opportunities for innovation forward, collaborating with organizational leaders and stakeholders to increase the innovation adoption capacity of the broader organization to support corporate and divisional strategies.

We are seeking one highly motivated, dynamic, creative candidate to join our team to help organize an organization wide hackathon. This is a unique opportunity to work with a cross- departmental team to manage and deliver an engaging event to all staff.

This is a four month full time student position (extension to eight months is based on performance).

WorkSafeBC has adopted a hybrid model offering opportunities to work remotely and onsite based on the operational needs of the position.

What you'll do

As a business analyst student intern, you will:

  • Project manage the annual hackathon event
  • Communicate and coordinate event tasks with the cross-department event team
  • Report on event timelines and event status
  • Conduct retrospectives and capture learnings after event
  • Assist project teams to ensure innovation projects are managed, executed, monitored for alignment with corporate strategic priorities
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to pertinent stakeholders on innovative initiatives, business and stakeholder impacts and recommendations for successful and sustainable solutions
Your experience and educational background:
  • MBA Internship major or specialization in any of the following: Innovation, Consulting, Strategy, or Technology.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to ensure event tasks are planned and completed on time
  • Previous work experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge in the following areas would be an asset: project management, change management, data analysis, facilitation, innovation process, tools, and methodologies including design thinking, lean start-up, and agile techniques.
  • Other required experience: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
