We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Math Teacher for students in Grades 5 and 6. The teacher will provide engaging, standards-aligned math instruction in a supportive afterschool setting. The goal is to strengthen students' foundational math skills, build confidence, and foster a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver interactive math lessons that align with Common Core and Ontario standards
Support students in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and math fluency.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and respect.
Provide individual or small group support as needed to meet diverse learning needs.
Use assessments or formative checks to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Maintain accurate attendance records and report student progress to the program coordinator.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and program leadership.
Ensure a safe and structured learning environment at all times.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
Teaching credential or certification OCT.
Experience teaching or tutoring students in Grades 5-6, preferably in math.
Strong understanding of middle-grade math concepts (fractions, decimals, ratios, pre-algebra).
Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills.
Passion for working with children and helping them grow academically.
Preferred Skills:
Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus.
Experience with enrichment or after-school programs.
