The Opportunity: Math Contest Preparation Instructor
This is a highly specialized,
in-person position
dedicated to preparing students for prestigious math contests. Ideal candidates currently hold a full-time math teaching role, are enrolled in teacher's college, or possess a strong background in a related education field.
Crucially, verifiable experience teaching or actively participating in renowned math contests (such as the AMC series or the University of Waterloo contests) is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Mandatory Qualifications & Expertise
Contest Specialization (Required):
Teachers must demonstrate a minimum of
3 years of teaching experience focused specifically on AMC or Waterloo math contests

and associated results.
Contest Background:
Prior direct experience with competitive mathematics--whether teaching, coaching, or competing--is mandatory.
Academic Command:
Exceptional academic proficiency and confidence in teaching advanced contest mathematics concepts, which will be assessed during the selection process.
Technical Skill:
Proficient in leveraging online teaching tools (for resource distribution and curriculum preparation).
Core Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, targeted lessons to small groups of students or through private tutoring, focusing
exclusively on contest preparation strategies and complex problem-solving content
.
Develop specialized, rigorous lessons within program guidelines, emphasizing analytical thinking and non-routine problem skills.
Mark and provide detailed, constructive feedback on homework and timed, contest-style assessments.
Actively promote and nurture students' intrinsic interests and competitive drive in advanced mathematics.
Instructors are required to teach a
minimum of 4 hours per week
.
