Position Overview

The Math Tutor provides academic support and guidance to students in various levels of mathematics. The tutor's goal is to help students improve their understanding of math concepts, enhance problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their mathematical abilities. Tutoring may occur one-on-one or in small group settings, either in person or online.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personalized instruction to students in subjects such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics. Assess students' current skill levels and identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement lesson plans or study strategies tailored to individual learning needs. Review class materials, homework, and test results to reinforce learning objectives. Explain complex mathematical concepts in clear, accessible ways. Monitor student progress and adjust tutoring methods as needed. Encourage and motivate students to achieve academic goals. Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, or academic staff regarding student progress. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student performance. Stay up to date with current math curriculum standards and teaching strategies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related field. Strong knowledge of mathematical principles across multiple levels (K-12, college-level, or beyond). Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, adaptability, and a passion for helping students learn. Ability to use educational technology or online tutoring platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Wyzant).

Preferred Skills

Experience preparing students for standardized tests (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE). Familiarity with learning differences and strategies for diverse learners. Organizational and time-management skills. Creative problem-solving abilities.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
