This position will teach sections of Math, Science, and Careers. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience teaching Middle School Science and Math, specifically with Grade 9 and 10 students. In a community where social-emotional learning and diversity, equity and inclusion are key priorities, the successful candidate demonstrates empathy, creativity, strong communication skills and the ability to build a caring rapport with students and colleagues. The successful candidate will work closely with the respective departments and report to the Instructional Leader of the departments.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each students ability;Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive Math, Science, and Careers curriculum for diverse learners;Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with a focus on inquiry based learning;Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties;Participate as an Advisor, mentoring students and meeting them regularly.Required Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher from an accredited institution with the relevant specialists in Math and General Science;Ontario College of Teachers certification, or equivalent, with I/S qualifications in General Math, general Science;Minimum three years\xe2\x80\x99 teaching experience preferred;Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;Experience and/or commitment to incorporating DEI principles into curriculum development and teaching practice;Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;Belief in and alignment to Branksome Hall\xe2\x80\x99s mission, vision and values:Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community;Ability to work both independently with little direct supervision as well as be a collaborative team member.Why Join Branksome Hall:Competitive salary and benefits including being a contributing member of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP) for eligible employees;Access to state of the art facilities and resources to support wellness, innovation and entrepreneurship such as the fitness center, swimming pools, and makerspacesA collaborative community with a commitment to the growth and development of employees with ongoing professional development and mentorship;Opportunity to join a global network of IB educators with strong connections to the IB and active partnerships with international organizations.How to Apply:If you would like to join a leading educational institution and dynamic team, please click to submit your resume and cover letter by May 30th, 2024.
