Job Posting: Lead Educator (Maternity Leave)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Educator at our Hillhurst location for a one year maternity leave. Someone who is passionate, creative, and deeply committed to their work with children. As a Lead Educator at AKIDEMY, you will play a pivotal role in shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning. Your responsibilities will include mentoring and coaching staff (We have 2 teachers in our classroom) helping develop a curriculum responsive to children's interests, and promoting the Reggio and emergent philosophy. Administrative duties include maintaining records, supporting director with billing, ensuring scheduling, communication with parents and staff, budget management, and overseeing supplies and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Level Three

Certification in Early Childhood Education

- Teaching experience and formal education in Early Childhood Education

- A commitment to reflective practice with children

- Eagerness to collaborate with co-teachers

- A strong desire for ongoing professional development and growth

- A disposition towards research and inquiry

- Experience designing curriculum responsive to children's emerging interests

- Familiarity with emergent curriculum, Reggio practice, and the Alberta FLIGHT framework

- A long-term commitment to early learning in an inclusive environment

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $31.62 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
