General Summary
The Materials Leader manages and oversees overall supply chain function for the site including operations, purchasing, planning and inventory of materials as well as selection of vendors for the site. Develop and use metrics to monitor the supply chain processes and drive for continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the supply chain. Recommends improvements for productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new products. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills are required
Based in Delta, British Columbia, the position will manage and lead a team of professionals in the Supply Chain across all company sites. The position reports to VP Procurement- Americas. An Operational reporting line to plant manager and a proximity link to procurement. Travel may be required.
Primary Responsibilities
Execute and maintain world class supply chain objectives as defined by the VP Procurement, Americas
Coordinate Supply Chain activities with internal customers (Operations, Procurement, Planning, Finance, Quality, EHS, etc.)
Develop and execute supply chain strategies that bring opportunities to reduce lead times, improve OTD/OQD, inventory management, and EOQ
Lead supply chain activities within each site. This will include: purchasing, scheduling, inventory management
Provides leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development. Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management.
Execute working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and all the applicable tools used for supply chain.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business Operations or 8 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management/Operations.
Experienced in establishing and maintaining internal and external business relationships with suppliers and other departments to enhance short and long term operational improvements.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experienced in MRP/ERP systems.
Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology is a plus.
This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Controlled Goods. This position will be required to successfully pass a security clearance as mandated by USA Department of Defense and Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.
