The Opportunity:



The Materials Engineer (Specialist) conducts research and development projects as well as provides manufacturing and product/applications support for Lifting Solutions current and future products with a focus on endless rod as well as occasional support for progressing cavity pumps. This position requires specialized expertise and experience with regards to metallic materials as well as strong materials engineering, laboratory evaluation and product inspection capabilities.

Responsibilities:



In alignment with the Lifting Solutions culture, mission, vision and values, you will be responsible to:

Conduct materials engineering design and development projects, including project plans, design requirements, and validation. Identify and conduct materials research, including developing custom test equipment and procedures. Support and lead engineering product inspections and failure analysis, focusing on materials. Train and mentor junior technical resources. Research and recommend new materials, coatings, and processing techniques to enhance product performance. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams on product development and continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to support internal decision-making and client communications.

Your Qualifications and Experience:



BSC or MSC in Materials, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering (PhD optional, not required) Strong knowledge of metallurgy with demonstrated experience in applied mechanics Minimum 5 years, with preference for 10+ years' experience, in applied materials engineering research and product development preferably with exposure to oilfield, aerospace or industrial environments Experience in welding metallurgy, including both conventional and solid-state processes, would be an asset Corrosion and tribology expertise, including lab testing, would be an asset Demonstrated understanding of fatigue and fracture phenomena Experience in microstructural characterization (OM, SEM, XRD) including mechanical interpretation Experience in conducting product inspections and failure analysis including preparation of reports
