Material Handler / Forklift Operator

Job Description

NWI Precision is seeking an ideal candidate to fill the role of Material Handler/Forklift Operator reporting to the Supervisor Materials and Logistics. This role will mainly be responsible to ensure the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment and the movement of product within the facility. Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Load, unload products from trucks and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment Operate a variety of equipment to move materials and products within the manufacturing facility. Verifying, Receiving and labeling all incoming materials and products and distributing them to the appropriate areas. Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel for repair Determine space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment Maintain the condition of forklift to ensure its daily operation will not compromise the health and safety of workers Assist the shipping team with preparing, packaging, and labeling of products to be transported. Assist with unpackaging products, gathering shipping/receiving documents related to transaction and moving materials to and from the machining centers. Push wheeled hoppers with scrap metal from various machines throughout the facility outside and empty them into larger bins with a forklift Maintain washroom supplies and perform janitorial duties such as emptying garbage bins Must be able to work indoors as well as outdoors in our yard in all weather conditions Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:



High School Diploma Previous Forklift Certification is an asset

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:



Two (2) years' experience in Material Handling, Warehouse Associate or a similar role Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs Previous Counterbalance forklift, overhead crane or hand truck equipment experience is an asset Safety conscious Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information

SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Must be fully fluent in English (speak, read and write) Must be able to pass our security assessments Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team Excellent time management and prioritization skills with multitasking ability Able to work under pressure A confident self-starter with sound decision-making skills Excellent problem-solving skills, trouble shooting skills and attention to detail Ability to lift 50 lbs
