The Material Handler/Receiver is responsible for all functions and paperwork related to receiving and inventory duties. This includes, but is not limited to, verifying the quantity and quality of products/ingredients being delivered and monitor inventory within the facility to ensure production requirements are met. Putting away product, rotating inventory, entering inventory values into our ERP, and maintaining organization within all inventoried areas of the facility. This particular position is incremental, and will bear direct responsibility for managing the inventory and rotation of our finished goods.
Further duties include, taking temperatures, verification, initialing and dating receipt against packing slips/invoices. Must have the ability to operate and maintain warehouse equipment, both manual and electric pump trucks and forklifts. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the receiving, inventory and loading dock area, including outside. You may also be required from time to time to assist with the duties of the Pack Team.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving
Receive all deliveries (products, ingredients, equipment and supplies) ensuring accuracy and quality meet expectations
Verify receiving documentation such as delivery receipts, invoices and packing slips against purchase orders and receiving calendar
Update receiving calendar and communicate discrepancies or rejections/returns
Unload and load delivery trucks and move product into storage, fridges and freezers as required
Safely operate and maintain pump trucks, forklifts or other related warehouse equipment
Complete packing slips, waybills, and bills of lading as well as prepare packages for any returned goods or items being repaired
Interface closely with the purchasing coordinator and adhere to all company purchasing practices, policies and procedures
Receive all goods in safe condition and store them appropriately in an organized manner
Assist in improving computer applications to support all warehousing, inventory, shipping and receiving functions
Entering all inbound material details into our ERP
Inventory & Quality Control
Track on hand quantities and locations of finished goods
Manage, store and organize inventory utilizing proper methods and procedures
Ensure inventory is rotated, First-In/First-Out policy, to maintain quality and avoid expiration/waste with a specific focus on finished goods
Manage and maintain accurate stock by assuming responsibility for inventory counts and identifying and communicating discrepancies to appropriate parties
Verify product quality and temperature of goods coming into the facility, recording information as required
Keep receiving, loading dock (inside and outside) and inventory areas clean and organized for safety and efficiency
Monitor temperature of fridges and freezers
Utilize warehouse expertise to establish a strategy for continuous improvement in warehouse and inventory management
Staging & Other
Prepare, stage and transfer inventoried product to adhere to production timelines
Foresee future requirements to prepare and temper ingredients in advance, where applicable
Identify any potential shortages or quality issues to the appropriate parties in advance to avoid delays
Provide exceptional and timely service for your internal customers
Occasional assistance with Pack Team duties
Any other duties as required
Work Hazards & Safety Focused
Able to frequently lift up to 50lbs with possible repetitive motion
Comfortable working in transitional temperature environments associated with food storage, working in both colder fridge and freezer temperatures
Able to work and maintain large, heavy mechanical and electrical equipment
Be cautious when working around the facility to ensure both personal safety and damage prevention
Required Education & Experience
3+ years of warehouse experience
Forklift certifications/licence (Reach truck and walking tow motor)
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), comfortable with internet navigation and communication via email
Good written and oral understanding of the English language

Combination of office environment and production floor. Generally stationary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time. Work is generally performed in an office environment with standard office equipment and without hazardous or unpleasant conditions (caused by noise, temperature, lighting, etc.). We may require that you work outside of your core work hours sometimes.
This position is generally quite labour intensive and requires being on your feet, on the production floor, for up to 90% of the time. 10% of the time would then be dedicated to paperwork/computer work. There will be constant exposure to environmental conditions with varying transitional temperatures. Regular lifting of products, up to 50lbs, with repetitive motion can be expected. Proper lifting techniques and use of equipment provided is essential to prevent injury. We may require you to work outside of your core work hours on occasion.
