Reporting to the Program Manager, Allied Health, the incumbent will provide support and assistance to the students and faculty of the Massage Therapy program labs, clinicals, outreach and associated services. This includes assisting faculty in assessing the skill levels of students and liaising with faculty to develop goals and strategies for learners translating in student success in massage therapy courses within the School of Health curriculum.
The incumbent assists faculty with the Massage Therapy related course physical assessments and practicing to professional levels required of the course outcomes in lab and clinical settings.
The position will maintain working order inventory and prescribed set up of massage therapy academic labs including in school and outreach clinical practice opportunities and facilities/placements involving other technologists in the division, for programming associated activities within the School of Health.
What you'll be doing:
Assists faculty with the related course massage therapy skills building practice and assessments, all requirements of the professions within The School of Health. This includes adapting to changing massage therapy protocols and/or regulations used by recruiting agencies and directed by CMTO and supports upgrades regarding certifications as required.
Assists in the coordination of class material to Learning Plans, by assisting faculty in demonstrating skills and techniques intended of the lab and its learning outcomes.
Records the skill level of massage therapy techniques and assessment protocols of evaluated of students during massage therapy skill development in lab settings, of the School of Health students and lab and clinical course requirements.
Oversees the take down and set up as required by student schedules including maintenance of facilities and lab equipment. Safeguards inventory via daily maintenance, proper storage of equipment and preventative and/or major repair requirements, along with other technologists and students. Reports to supervisor required preventative and major repair work necessary and monitor associated contracts.
Ensures procedures (including health and safety) and operation manuals and protocol directives are prepared and up to date and available to students, faculty and staff. This may include directing co-op (if applicable) and in program student volunteers to ensure the equipment and lab material is clean and in working order following a preventative maintenance schedule as set by the manufacturers and equipment specialists.
What you'll bring to the role:
A minimum of a three-year post-secondary education in Massage Therapy required.
Specialization in the related field of study is required as regulated by the CMTO.
Current certification in good standing as a Registered Massage Therapist with CMTO.
Two years of experience in working in a registered massage therapy organizational setting, along with practical experience as a massage therapist.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
