Story Behind the Need:

  • Business group: CBE Personalization - The Client Primacy & Personalization team is responsible for ideation, design, engineering, and implementation of software for the Personalization domain.
  • Project: Client Primacy and Personalization - Large-scale enterprise-wide project to accelerate personalization capabilities across our stack (targeted propensity-driven lists, marketing journey and sales conversion funnels).
  • The team is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with hands-on expertise in Adobe Real-Time Customer Data Platform (RTCDP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), and schema development in RTCDP. While the work will be primarily within Adobe Experience Platform, we welcome candidates with schema and data integration experience from other enterprise MarTech stacks such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), Eloqua, Marketo, or Pega CDH.
  • This role will focus on building, integrating, and optimizing data pipelines and schemas that power customer data activation and personalization across digital channels and API-driven integrations.

Typical Day in Role:
  • Schema Development & Data Modeling:
o Design and implement XDM-based schemas in Adobe RTCDP to support audience segmentation, personalization, and activation.
o Extend standard schemas to accommodate custom business requirements while ensuring compatibility with downstream activation channels.
o Translate schema and data modeling experience from platforms like Eloqua (e.g., Contacts, Custom Data Objects, Activities) and SFMC (e.g., Data Extensions, Contact Builder) into scalable solutions within AEP.
o Collaborate with marketing and engineering teams to align schema design with campaign and journey orchestration needs across platforms.
  • Data Integration & Ingestion:
o Build and maintain ingestion pipelines for batch and streaming data sources, including mobile and web events.
o Configure and manage integrations using AEP APIs for automated data ingestion, export, and audience activation.
o Apply prior experience with data ingestion and mapping from other MarTech platforms to optimize onboarding into AEP.
  • Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) Enablement:
o Enable data readiness for AJO journeys and campaigns, ensuring proper schema and dataset alignment.
o Collaborate with marketing teams to operationalize customer journeys powered by real-time event data.
  • API-Driven Development:
o Develop and maintain REST API integrations between AEP and external systems for data synchronization, activation, and reporting.
  • Quality & Governance:
o Implement data validation, mapping, and transformation rules to ensure data integrity and compliance.
o Partner with data governance teams to maintain data privacy, consent, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
  • 3+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in a MarTech or data engineering context
  • Recent hands-on experience with Adobe RTCDP schema design, dataset management, and ingestion workflows
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Journey Optimizer and its integration with RTCDP datasets.
  • Proficiency with AEP APIs for data ingestion, activation, and schema management.
  • Strong skills in SQL and one or more programming languages (Python, Java, or Node.js preferred).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) for data processing and integration.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Schema and data integration experience with platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Eloqua, Marketo, or Pega CDH.
  • Familiarity with Eloqua's Custom Data Objects (CDOs) and SFMC's Data Extensions and Contact Builder.
  • Experience with customer identity stitching and profile unification in RTCDP or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of event-based data models and real-time streaming pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.).
  • Familiarity with marketing automation, personalization strategies, and customer journey orchestration.
Soft Skills Required:
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to translate marketing and business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, data, and engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills--able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field (computer engineering computer science)
  • Adobe certifications are an asset
Best VS. Average Candidate:
  • Candidate who has all the must have skills is best - important to have strong AEP API, MarTech and Adobe products experience; good communication skills is needed as is a senior role to be able to articulate issues and work with other senior members
Candidate Review & Selection:
  • 1st round- 1 hour - technical panel interview with senior manager and architect, and senior developer - MS Teams Interview
  • 2nd round - 30-45 minutes - meet with delivery/program lead and director - potential to be in person
  • Potential for 3rd interview as a tiebreaker
