What You'll Do
The Marketing Manager, you will design and manage marketing strategies for WWL, from digital channels to partnerships, deliver on-brand guest communications, and support lodge growth. This role is ideal for someone passionate about meaningful travel, sustainability, and storytelling, who enjoys remote work and the possibility of occasional onsite collaboration. This is a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension.
Write and edit compelling descriptions for all accommodation types, including 16 lodge rooms and 4 cabins, for use on the website, booking channels, and marketing materials.
Highlight key features such as room size, amenities, private decks, views, and unique design elements.
Ensure professional photos and videos of all accommodation units are captured, updated, and organized in the content library.
2. Food & Beverage Content
Develop polished website and promotional copy for all food and beverage offerings, including restaurant, bar, and in-room dining.
Craft menu highlights, seasonal culinary features, and signature dining experiences.
Coordinate and ensure high-quality photography and videography of dining areas, dishes, and beverage presentations.
3. Spa & Activities Content
Create website and marketing copy for spa experiences, including sauna, cold plunge, massage services, and relaxation areas.
Produce engaging content for guest activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, hiking, guided tours, and wildlife viewing.
Ensure professional photos and videos are captured showcasing spa facilities and guest activities.
4. Cultural Programming & Signature Spaces
Highlight the Longhouse as the cultural heart of Wahous Wilderness Lodge.
Develop content showcasing cultural programming, including traditional storytelling, cultural shows, salmon bake feasts, and heritage experiences.
Represent and promote local art, First Nations culture, and community-based experiences in all marketing materials.
Ensure professional imagery and videography are captured for the Longhouse, cultural events, and signature spaces.
Emphasize the lodge's cultural authenticity and the uniqueness of its experiences across all channels.
5. Media & Visual Asset Production
Produce and manage high-quality photos, videos, and branded graphics for:
Website & social media
Email campaigns
Print/digital promotions (brochures, flyers, one-pagers)
Travel agent and tour operator collateral
Billboards, ferry advertising, and out-of-home media
Capture or coordinate aerial/drone footage of the lodge, Longhouse, cabins, and surrounding landscape.
6. Website & Online Presence
Upload, manage, and maintain all marketing content on the website.
Ensure "Book Now" calls-to-action are prominent, functional, and aligned with the PMS/Reservations team.
Optimize all website content for SEO, including meta titles, alt text, keywords, and structured headings.
Collaborate with the web developer to ensure the site is visually appealing, fast-loading, and mobile-friendly.
7. Tourism Partnerships & Alignment
Ensure all marketing efforts align with:
Destination BC
Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC)
Tourism Vancouver Island / 4VI
Tourism Tofino
Other First Nations and cultural tourism networks
Develop campaigns and content that support shared tourism initiatives and regional storytelling.
Represent Wahous in marketing opportunities, partnerships, and tourism board collaborations.
8. Multi-Channel Marketing & Campaign Development
Develop a social media content strategy and prepare an initial posting schedule.
Create marketing collateral for trade and agent distribution, including PDFs, image banks, and rate sheets.
Write and design content for outdoor and transit advertising (billboards, BC Ferries, terminal screens, etc.).
Develop a press/media kit for journalists, travel agents, and influencers.
9. Reporting & Accountability
Provide weekly updates to the General Manager on marketing progress, deliverables, and asset development.
Track and report on key metrics, including:
Website content completion
Social media engagement and growth
Media asset library organization and completeness
Identify content gaps, operational barriers, or opportunities and propose responsive solutions.
What You Bring
Qualifications
3-5 years (or more) of experience in marketing, digital marketing, or tourism marketing -- ideally within hospitality, travel, lodge/resort, or adventure tourism sector.
Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., marketing, communications, business, hospitality) is preferred and considered an asset.
Proven track record managing online marketing, content creation, social media, and campaigns.
Proficiency with creative design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
Experience working with remote/hybrid environments, or small hospitality businesses, is an asset.
Strong writing, storytelling, and content creation skills (text, photo, video).
Familiarity with website management (CMS), SEO/SEM, booking-platform integration, and digital analytics.
Creative and strategic thinker: able to balance brand storytelling, user engagement, and conversion goals.
Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
Alignment with lodge's values: respect for land, culture, sustainability, and guest-first mindset.
Ability to collaborate across departments (operations, guest services, leadership)
Physical Requirements
Hybrid work model initially (remote), with occasional onsite visits to lodge for content creation, guest experience immersion, and collaboration, as required.
Flexibility in work hours to account for peak booking seasons, content cycles, or campaigns.
Potential for boat travel to the lodge for onsite photos/videos, guest-experience review, or seasonal promotions.
What We Offer
Competitive salary based on experience; $70,000 to $85,000
