We are looking for a Marketing and Development Officer to join our team. This is a new position for the company so the successful individual will have the opportunity to develop this new position alongside the Obsidian team.
Our typical season includes two or three full productions, various training programs, general auditions and ancillary events.
The Marketing and Development Officer will report to the Artistic Director and General Manager. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Design and creation of print, multimedia and online communications and marketing materials including promotional materials, newsletters, ads, house programmes, etc.
Developing content (copy, images, video), including research, writing, and copyediting for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
Implementation and execution of annual development plans aligned with Obsidian\xe2\x80\x99s artistic work, strategic priorities, and core operations.
Establishing new funding sources and cultivating relationships with new donors, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing donors.
Execution of applications and reports to corporate partners, charitable foundations and government granting bodies to meet submission deadlines.
Attend select Obsidian performances, receptions, and community events as required to develop relationships with donors, patrons, and partners.
Be a representative of Obsidian with potential and existing funders and throughout cultural, philanthropic, and professional communities.
Implementation and execution of annual marketing plans aligned Obsidian\xe2\x80\x99s artistic work, strategic priorities, and core operations.
Report regularly on activity and achievements.
Consult with graphic designers and other artists in the development of new images for our seasons.
Develop and plan functions that will help establish and further the company brand
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Experience in marketing strategies / graphic design / development / fundraising / philanthropy.
Sound organizational skills & attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to demonstrate initiative
Ability to manage competing priorities and complete work in a timely manner
Ability to multitask
Flexible with the ability to adapt to change
ASSETS
Experience working in non-profit organizations
Love for theatre or performing arts
Proficiency with Google Workspace & Microsoft Office Suite
Creativity, vision, and a sense of humour
Additional Info:
This is a full time position with a salary range between $50,000 \xe2\x80\x93 $55,000 commensurate with experience, ideal start date on September 5, 2023.
We are currently working in a hybrid format with an expectation that there will be at least three days that we will be working collectively in the office.
