About the Position

This position serves as the Marketing department\'s liaison in matters of strategic development with internal clients and external creative partners and reports to the Director, Marketing, Communications, Alumni and Engagement. They are responsible for coordinating marketing and recruiting efforts to achieve enrolment targets and promote industry relationships that build Lethbridge College\'s reputation and revenues. This is a relationship-building position that supports the long-term growth and development of Lethbridge College as a quality institution. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential attributes as this position is responsible for initiating, planning and executing complex and multifaceted marketing projects, budgets and resources on behalf of college stakeholders.
Position Details

Strategic Planning. Under the supervision of the Director, Marketing, Communications, Alumni and Engagement , this position contributes to the development of an annual plan that supports the college\'s strategic plan and relevant priorities identified in Lethbridge College\'s Institutional Plan. The scope of this activity serves corporate and academic clients and as such requires the individual to correspond with multiple client areas, often seamlessly, to develop comprehensive plans. These efforts contribute to furthering the college\'s reputation and relevance to government, industry, community and internal stakeholders.

Liaison to Key Stakeholder Clients. This position works in fluid continuity with key stakeholders groups including College Leadership Council, Deans and Chairs to plan and implement strategic marketing initiatives. Typically this includes build-outs of strategic and marketing plans, creative briefs identifying tactics and preparing supportive media buys to support client goals. This often includes developing budgets and timelines for internal departments as well as making decisions on where best to allocate resources and spending. Maintains regular and open communication with clients. Builds positive rapport and maintains effective relationships with clients. Adds value by providing insights and recommendations.

Advertising and Promotions Planning and Implementation: Once strategies are agreed upon with the clients, this position is responsible for working with the Marketing and Communications teams to create content to meet the objectives of the strategy to support the client and overall brand position of Lethbridge College. Content is developed with consistent messaging and imagery that supports the college\'s brand. This includes research, copy writing, editing and brainstorming. This position works closely with communications, writers, photographers, web services, the production coordinator, and designers on a daily basis in a collaborative fashion to execute the project. Some key projects led by this role are: capital campaign materials, recruitment materials and college-wide event materials.

Event Planning and Management: The role will include the planning and execution of marketing events to support college wide initiatives. This includes the logistical planning and execution of marketing specific events. They will often be required to participate on planning committees for college wide events such as: convocation, donor recognition events, building openings, anniversary events, recruitment events and more.

Photo and Video Production: The Marketing Coordinator will be involved in the contracting of services to external vendors to support the production of photos and videos. They will plan, organize and supervise photo and video shoots with college staff, faculty, students, donors and community members. This involves providing the creative direction for each shoot, maintaining budgets and timelines, and directing of the content gathering as well as editing of the final product. They decide on creative concepts and lead the planning and execution of photo or video shoots while developing positive productive relationships with vendors.

Brand Positioning: The Marketing Coordinator will work directly with the Senior Marketing Specialist to actively look for opportunities to bring new and innovative ideas to the table while moving the college brand forward. They work to maintain, update and innovate the brand and marketing procedures. Has a strong understanding of industry standards and works to advance the marketing team.
Required Qualifications

  • Two-year diploma in Marketing is required
  • A university undergraduate degree specializing in Business and/or Marketing is preferred
This position requires project management skills to plan and execute marketing tasks every day. An idea only has value when combined with proper implementation and that is where the specialist uses their skills to achieve targeted goals. This includes working with clients to initiate, plan, execute and monitor and control projects. Strategic planning is required of this position to ensure projects reach the overall goals of the institution and/or client. This position also requires multi-tasking and the ability to thrive under pressure and deadlines.

It is vitally important that the ideas and execution of projects under the Marketing Coordinator are creative, original and help the college stand out from their competitors. Creative and original ideas are at the core of the service the specialist supplies to the clients. As a result this person must stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends, post-secondary best practices, college goals, college programs and services as well as technology including social media. Independent research would be conducted by the specialist to gain competitive intelligence to make sure the college\'s advertising initiatives stand apart from their competitors. As well research would need to be conducted on a regular basis to stay up to date and provide relevant and accurate advise to client on the best uses of online platforms. Ex. Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter, LinkedIn and the college\'s website. This role would also work with the Senior Marketing Specialist to research and implement best practices within the context of operational procedures.
