The Edge Benefits Inc. is looking for an experienced Marketing Communications Specialist on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing Communications Specialist creates compelling content for a variety of marketing channels and materials, manages the company's social media presence and email communications initiatives, contributes to the development of sales and training materials, and supports the Marketing Department's day-to-day operations.
Our head office is located in Newmarket, Ontario; however, this is a fully remote opportunity with occasional travel to Head Office for employees located within a reasonable driving distance.
Specific Duties
Become a subject expert on the competitive landscape, the company's target markets, EDGE's product portfolio, and our value proposition:
Conduct market research and remain knowledgeable about our core competitors, their strengths & weaknesses, and key positioning statements
Identify opportunities to differentiate EDGE from the competition
Maintain a knowledge bank of our advisor and client personas, and the motivational factors and USPs for each
Content development and quality assurance:
Create engaging, authoritative, and informative content for a variety of digital and traditional mediums including websites, landing pages, web-based software, emails, banner ads, press releases, radio, presentations, sales materials, product literature and training programs
Create compelling headlines, ad copy and supporting content
Compose lead generation and conversion emails that generate high opens and clicks, inspire action, and have consistent follow through
Assist in developing and implementing the company's content marketing strategy, including performing research, recommending strategies, and collaborating with internal teams to compose relevant and timely content
Develop SEO-rich content for the company's website
Proofread and edit content provided by other departments and external parties to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, accuracy, and effectiveness
Ensure all content represents EDGE's products accurately, aligns with brand standards, and is compliant
Campaign management, analysis and administration:
Contribute to the development of the company's communications calendars and manage ad hoc additions and changes
Collaborate with internal teams to create, implement, analyze and report on the performance of ad campaigns, sales initiatives and routine emails sent to our advisors, clients and business partners
Conduct research, analyze data and formulate strategies for improving engagement, brand awareness and sales growth
Maintain the company's unsubscribe lists and ensure email preferences are in sync between all CRM and business systems
Investigate bounce backs and forward to the appropriate stakeholders for follow up
Social media management:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's social media calendar and content
Propose strategies and materials that increase engagement, shares and follows
Work with peers to develop innovative tools and materials that support the company's social initiatives
Manage the company's private Facebook group and social pages
Respond to comments and private messages professionally and in a timely manner
Routine correspondence:
Facilitate management of the Marketing Department's inboxes, forward inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member, and respond to emails as appropriate with accuracy and timeliness
Contribute to the preparation and distribution of weekly trend reports
Your Qualifications
Must be fluent in English; French language skills an asset
Thorough knowledge of and experience with digital and traditional marketing channels, including a proven track record of crafting innovative and cohesive content for all types of materials and media
Exceptional written and verbal communication, with strong editing and proofreading abilities
Experience writing for B2B and B2C audiences
Able to distill information down to the most important messages to communicate concisely
Able to communicate complex subject matter in simple terms, including information of contractual nature
Detail oriented and capable of maintaining a high degree of accuracy
Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills
Perform well both independently and within a team
Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and discretion; must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with external partners and people at all levels of an organization
Strong sense of ownership and accountability; able to manage multiple projects, routine responsibilities and assignments while adhering to strict deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email deployment software, Google Analytics/SEMRush or similar analytical tools, social media platforms and SEO best practices; must possess a strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn
In-depth knowledge of CASL requirements and communications best practices, including experience creating html email templates, preparing recipient lists, deploying emails and analyzing performance
Post-secondary education in Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a relevant field
3-5 years of marketing communications experience; insurance industry experience is an asset
Applicants will be asked to provide a portfolio of their work that demonstrates their writing style, their ability to adapt styles based on scope, audience and medium, and the breadth of their experience creating content for a variety materials, audiences and industries.
