Job Description








BCIT\xe2\x80\x99s Marketing and Communications department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Marketing & Communications Coordinator. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports marketing and communications programs, services, and events within the Marketing and Communication department. The Coordinator maintains an awareness of the department\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives, and implements actions to effectively support the development, organization, marketing, strategy, and day-to-day operations. The Coordinator works closely with internal and external stakeholders, and provides support with departmental systems and processes.


Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Marketing and Communications:

  • Supports the development and implementation of marketing initiatives, including researching, writing, and editing marketing-oriented products such as publications, ad copy, social media posts, and e-blasts.
  • Researches and writes communications materials including news releases, blog stories, digital slides, internal communications, newsletters, and events collateral.
  • Assists in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies for the schools, service departments, and various events.
  • Assists the Creative team in developing and executing on creative deliverables that align with the Institution\xe2\x80\x99s marketing objectives.
  • Designs, writes, tests, and launches web and/or landing pages to promote events, partnerships, or program updates.
  • In conjunction with project leads, maintains client and attendee information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • In conjunction with the Events & Experiential team, assembles marketing packages for use in Institute events by producing, gathering, and distributing marketing materials.
  • Gathers and analyzes program, market, and recruitment-related statistics.
  • Supports recruitment activations, marketing campaigns, special events, and conferences as assigned.



Administration:
  • Provides administrative support for departmental meetings, including producing agendas, taking minutes, and designing and facilitating presentations.
  • Inputs and maintains information for the advertising database, including administering invoicing for the Marketing and Communications department.
  • Assists with financial processes such as budget development and administration, cross-charges, reconciliations, invoicing, and accounts payable.
  • Liaises with the schools, Finance, Logistics and other BCIT departments to ensure smooth delivery of projects and services.
  • Provides orientation and onboarding assistance for new team members.
  • Explores and recommends new technologies and best practices that advance the quality and value of communication and engagement.
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade for this position.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent\xe2\x80\x99s existing qualifications.

Education:
  • Completion of Grade 12, plus completion of a two-year diploma in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related discipline.


Experience:
  • Two years of general experience plus one year of current, practical experience in a similar position.


Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise:
  • Demonstrated experience at the intermediate level of Microsoft Office suite, with high level of skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience launching and tracking social media campaigns.
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital marketing, digital advertising, marketing analytics, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and/or project management.
  • Familiarity with communications tools, including web publishing, graphic design, and e-communications software.



Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to communicate with with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.


Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.):
  • Professional demeanor with a demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent organization, strategic, and tactical planning skills demonstrated through ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.

Salary Range
Salary Grade 6: $49,090 - $53,170 per annum.


Additional Salary Information
External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with set progressions to the maximum as per the Collective Agreement. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
