Position Summary:

Turkstra Lumber is seeking a Marketing & Communications Specialist to support a wide range of brand, promotional, and community initiatives. This role oversees print and promotional marketing, coordinates partnership and sponsorship initiatives, responsible for event activations, and assists with both internal and external communications. This person will play a key role in strengthening collaboration and consistency by coordinating content, campaigns, and brand messaging across multiple channels. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience, strong project coordination skills, and a background in marketing, communications, or public relations. Experience with social media planning, email marketing, and internal or external communication is considered an asset. A passion for teamwork, having a positive, can-do attitude and interest in community involvement is a must, in alignment with Turkstra's core values.

Print and Promotional Marketing:

Oversees production and distribution of all printed marketing materials, including in-store signage, outdoor signs, posters, and sales promotions. Manages inventory and ordering of promotional items and branded swag - for Marketing, Sales, and Operations. Ensures print and promotional materials are timely, consistent, and brand-aligned.
Partnership and Sponsorship Coordination:

Serves as the main point of contact between Turkstra and marketing agencies, sponsorship partners and community organizations. Manages relationships, deliverables, and workflows for Turkstra's partnerships, acting as an ambassador for the brand and our corporate values. Ensures alignment with brand standards, strategic goals and partnership agreements.
Event Activation and Brand Engagement:

Leads the planning, design, and execution of all Turkstra event activations (football games, community events, etc.). Coordinates with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth event setup, branded materials, logistics, and customer engagement. Supports charity event planning and participation, including materials and promotion.
Email Marketing and Communications:

Develops and deploys customer-facing email marketing campaigns that support promotions, events, and seasonal content. Collaborates with the broader marketing team to develop, schedule, and track campaign performance. Coordinates the production of Turkstra Times, the internal quarterly newsletter. Supports communication with branches and other key stakeholders across the company. Maintains lists and ensures email communications follow best practices and compliance standards. Drafts press releases, media advisories, and coordinates community news opportunities when a need is identified.
Project Management:

Collaborates with the creative team, sales, and branch leadership to execute projects effectively and on time. Tracks timelines, deliverables, and budgets related to marketing partnerships, campaigns, and events.
Organic Social Media Planning and Coordination:

Coordinates with third-party partners (freelancers) on all organic social content across platforms. Ensure these partners are set up for success. Tracks performance metrics and adjusts content strategy as needed. Plans and manages content across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Writes and schedules posts aligned with our brand voice and business objectives. Develops and executes an annual organic content strategy and calendar. Owns the video content pipeline including: ideating compelling social-first video concepts, creating detailed shot lists, coordinating and managing on-site photo shoots, overseeing asset delivery and content execution across platforms.

Qualifications:



Education/Experience Requirements:

Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, or related field. 3+ years of experience in a marketing or communications role.
Abilities/Skill Requirements:

Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills across digital platforms. Proficiency with marketing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, email platforms, social media schedulers). Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities. Creative thinker with strong collaboration and communication skills. Experience in building materials, retail, or B2B industries is an asset.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for long periods of time.
