Job Description

The Director of Marketing & Communications is a senior-level position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the YMCA of Southern Interior BC's overall marketing strategy. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Philanthropy, this position will lead the marketing department and it's team, manage budgets, and ensure all marketing initiatives align with the organization's strategic initiatives to drive brand awareness and revenue growth.

Marketing strategy and planning: Develop comprehensive and creative marketing strategies that align with the Y's strategic goals, market trends, and consumer behaviour to both build brand awareness and drive revenue through membership, program participation and charitable donations. Team leadership: Supervise, mentor, and manage the marketing team, including setting performance standards and fostering a collaborative environment. Creative campaign oversight: Develop, approve and oversee the execution of creative, integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, print, and social media. Budget management: Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, allocating resources efficiently across different projects, campaigns and departments. Brand management: Maintain and strengthen the company's brand identity and positioning, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. Performance analysis: Track, measure, and analyze the performance of marketing activities using key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize future strategies. Market research: Conduct ongoing research to identify new market opportunities, understand consumer preferences, and stay ahead of competitors. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Health, Fitness and Aquatics, Community Programming, Philanthropy, Child Care and People and Culture, as well as the Executive team, to ensure marketing efforts support organization-wide objectives. Partner and vendor management: Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, media partners, and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

We'd love to hear from people with:




Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field 5+ years of progressive experience in a marketing leadership role, with a proven track record of successful campaigns and revenue growth. At least 3 to 5 years of experience in an upper management capacity, having led and mentored teams. Demonstrable experience leading and managing digital marketing campaigns (SEO, SEM, social media, email, automations) and using analytics tools. Leadership: Ability to inspire and guide a team towards a common goal. Strategic thinking: Capacity to translate business goals into effective, long-term marketing strategies. Analytical thinking: Proficiency in analyzing data and metrics to make data-driven decisions. Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for clear messaging and effective collaboration. Creative mindset: Innovative and creative thinking to develop unique and engaging campaigns. Project management: The ability to oversee and manage complex projects from conception to completion.

Compensation:




$40.86 hourly wage Paid vacation, wellness, and family responsibility days for family members Membership to Y facilities for self and family Extended heath and dental benefits Annual Y pension of 5% (after 2 years)
