About the Position




The Marketing and Communications Coordinator drives campaign execution, digital engagement, and data analytics. Reporting to the Manager, receiving day to day direction from the Marketing and Communications Specialist, this role is responsible for deploying content, analyzing performance metrics, and supporting the execution of campaigns. This role is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented marketer who is eager to grow in digital marketing, analytics, and content production within a purpose-driven, community-oriented environment.

Spray Lake Sawmills Centre (SLS Centre) is a leading-edge sport and recreational facility encompassing 325,000 square feet, including an aquatic centre, four arenas and a curling centre, fitness & climbing facilities, an indoor turf, track, and gymnasium, and is home to several third-party tenants. SLS Centre is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors. Specific responsibilities:





Campaign Execution & Content Deployment

Design and produce final graphic assets across all mediums including social media, email, web, signage, and digital screens around the facility. Adapt and format creative content for digital and print channels, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility. Assist with the creation of short-form video, stories, and social media posts using emerging digital trends.
Digital Marketing & Communications

Execute community and member communications (monthly, supplemented with e-blasts for events and notices). Support website updates and maintenance ensuring all information is accurate, up to date and fully optimized. Support paid media execution by uploading creative assets, tracking performance, and compiling reports.
Data Collection, Reporting & A/B Testing

Track key performance indicators across platforms (open rates, clicks, conversions, impressions, etc.). Conduct A/B testing for email and ad content; report findings to support ongoing optimization. Prepare and deliver regular analytics reports to the Marketing and Communications Specialist, offering actionable insights for improving engagement and ROI.
Social Media Engagement & Monitoring

Manage daily social media publishing, community management, and response monitoring. Engage with community feedback and escalate questions or issues appropriately. Monitor and stay up to date with platform trends (Meta, Instagram Reels, Stories, TikTok, etc.) and contribute creative ideas for increasing reach and engagement.
Operational Support & Internal Collaboration

Collaborate with internal teams to collect and clarify marketing requests, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Assist in maintaining marketing requests and collaborating in the shared workflow tracker (Monday.com). Support the implementation of emergency communications across digital platforms.
Event Support

Provide onsite support for planned community or internal events (occasional evenings/weekends required). Assist with signage, photography, and live content during activations or promotional opportunities.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) 1-3 years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or a related role Proven ability with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Premiere Pro or Rush is an asset) Experience managing business social media accounts and creating short-form digital content (e.g., Reels, Stories, video snippets) Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills with high attention to detail Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) Familiarity with digital tools such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact (email/newsletter platforms) Ability to interpret and apply brand guidelines with a good eye for visual consistency and design Knowledge of Google Ads, basic SEO principles, and A/B testing is an asset Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment Strong collaborator with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset Effective verbal and written communicator with a clear, professional tone Passion for recreation, wellness, and community development, ideally with familiarity or connection to the Cochrane area * Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check
