The Sackville Farmers' Market is looking for someone to manage their Saturday market and be the 'go-to' person for both vendors and customers. The manager is responsible for overseeing the running of the market on Saturday mornings; duties during non-market hours include, but are not limited to, administrative tasks, marketing, and outreach.
Responsibilities
Market Days:
Set up and breakdown of Saturday Farmers' Market, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer.
Be visible and accessible to vendors and customers during Farmers' Market hours.
Collect, record, and deposit vendor fees. Report this information weekly, to the market's Treasurer.
Administration & Communications:
Create weekly schedule and vendor map.
Organize and keep accurate vendor profile information.
Handle/ assess new vendor inquiries, and orient new vendors.
Communicate with vendors about special events or circumstances.
Coordinate communications across various platforms, including the website, Facebook and Instagram.
Liaise with Public Health and relay relevant information to vendors.
Interpret and enforce market Rules and Regulations consistently and fairly, and address or forward complaints and/or disputes as necessary.
Reporting and market-building:
Report monthly to the Sackville Farmers' Market Board of Directors and annually at Farmers' Market general meetings.
Assist Board and Market Committees to develop promotions, marketing, and special programming.
Work to make the market as efficient as possible and to optimize the work of the Market Manager.
Requirements
Essential to be on-site Saturdays 7am-2pm throughout the year as well as additional Friday night markets as scheduled.
Interest in and knowledge of local food, artisan, and market communities.
Reliable, friendly, self-motivated, organized, good self- and time-management.
Proficient in professional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in conflict resolution.
Strong leadership skills.
Able to work with a volunteer board and non-profit organization.
Competence with computer programs such as Excel, email and social media.
Available for phone and email contact throughout the week (phone and computer will be provided).
Physical capabilities to set up and move tables, work outside in the wintertime, walk between indoor and outdoor market location repeatedly.
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
Car and a valid driver's license.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
