Market Fundamentals Analyst (Generation Forecasting & Resource Adequacy)
Our Generation Forecasting & Resource Adequacy team is looking for a full-time Market Fundamentals Analyst to support a variety of initiatives within the team. This role will be accountable for:Developing long-term adequacy assessments through the use and enhancement of existing models Supporting the research, development and financial modeling for transformational technologies (i.e. wind, solar, geothermal, energy storage, CCUS, hydrogen, SMRs) by providing insightful analyses based on historical, current and forward looking information Participating in the creation of Long Term Outlooks, delivered cost of electricity analysis, regulatory analysis and ad hoc analysis Managing the scope, schedule and delivery of analysis and forecast information to various internal and external stakeholders Providing analysis, interpretation and insights into the Alberta and interconnected electricity markets Supporting assessments of power markets and other commodity markets (i.e., natural gas, oil) Researching industry trends and developments Supporting data gathering and analysis initiatives for internal and external customers Participating in the development of presentations, papers and briefing notes for internal and external stakeholders Collaborating with other departments on how to present analytical insights, forecasting or simulation information Developing and documenting internal processes, customer requests, and assumptions Exploring and defining opportunities for process improvement and implement approved changes in a collaborative manner Maintaining and building key internal and external stakeholder relationships Promoting collaboration and teamwork, and sharing information, ideas, and knowledge

A combination of these experiences and qualities will support your success in this role:Undergraduate degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or relevant discipline; Graduate degree would be considered an asset 2 to 5 years experience in a research, analytical role, or business development role; relevant graduate studies (thesis or practicum) work could be considered as part of the experience requirement. Generation financial and operational modeling combined with renewables business development experience is an asset Experience in commodity markets (i.e., electricity, natural gas, oil) in an analytical or commercial role is an asset Modelling experience incorporating spreadsheets, databases, statistical software or programming languages is asset; use of AURORA and SERVM are desirable Power systems operations and electricity market understanding is desirable Demonstrated flexibility within roles is an asset Strong quantitative aptitude and demonstrated analytical ability Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills Excellent oral and written communications skills Hands on, self starter who works effectively in a team setting

This full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary, and a variable pay program. We support a hybrid work environment, where the team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are flexible for where you work best.
