is a proud partner of Navacord, specializing in all things marine. We are looking for a Marine Underwriter, to join our team. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing risk factors to determine the eligibility of applicants for insurance policies, working closely with the Underwriting team, Sales team, and Marketer.

As the Marine Underwriter, you get to participate in:



Preparing quotes for new business for yacht business, by assessing the application for insurance and determining risks and acceptance within company policies and authority limits. Working closely with the Sales Team to meet current yacht client needs, including, but not limited to, renewal quotes, endorsements, and cancellations, and updating customer information. Performing a variety of duties that ensure risk is evaluated appropriately including assessing market value, location, condition, and use of the asset, and gathering background information on commercial and yacht customers from information provided in the application provided by the sales team. Binding the policy once the terms are accepted and issuing related insurance documents. Updating bordereaux to ensure it balances, and corrects errors as required. Maintaining detailed records of underwriting decisions. Preparing reports, and proposals for management as requested. Supporting the implementation of new business directives or initiatives.

Your Skillset Includes :



Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting principles and practices, including rating process. Knowledge of marine insurance, including yacht and/or commercial related assets and risks. Familiarity with policy wording and application of policies. Committed to customer service through building strong, trusted relationships. Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively inside and outside the organization. Ability to prepare written material including endorsements, quotes, policy documents, and letters. Diligence to review applications and review policy wording and documents. Critical thinking skills to assess risks. Good judgement and confident decision-making

You will have:



Familiarity with marine insurance, through either previous roles or a personal passion for boating. Committed to continuous education through reading, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and familiarity with an agency management system and underwriting system (Insly)

Your background includes:



Insurance related education, with a focus on insurance principles and practices, including underwriting (e.g., CIP, General Insurance Level 2 license in good standing with the Insurance Council) would be an asset, but not required. Experience in the insurance industry, including commercial and/or yacht underwriting.
Your attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to make sound judgments will be crucial in this role.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
