The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation is opening a call for a Marine Program Coordinator, based out of Inuvik, to identify, mitigate, and adapt to local and regional marine priorities linked to changing dynamics of the Arctic Ocean. The Arctic Ocean is experiencing shorter ice cover periods, and as a result, increased access to remote areas, tourism, research, and recreation. The Marine Program Coordinator is responsible for championing marine strategies, action plans, management plans that will identify marine priorities and set the stage for mitigation and adaptation. The Marine Program Coordinator will be planning and facilitate IRC?s marine initiatives like marine safety, education and engagement, infrastructure, harvest studies, environmental monitoring, and Traditional Knowledge studies. The Coordinator will also support programming related to community outreach and training/mentoring, and will engage with Inuvialuit Beneficiaries, researchers, and community partners to determine knowledge gaps in research, monitoring, and programming.
