Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Engine Utility will include but are not limited to:
Assisting and complying with company and regulatory safety policies.
Executing preventative maintenance initiatives in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manor.
Works under the leadership of the senior engineering officers.
Must possess good communication skills.
Shift Information
All crew work on a 42 day on, 42 day off leave system, with door-to-door travel to and from the vessel.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Certificates must be endorsed by Transport Canada to be considered for this role, without exception.
Engine-room Rating certificate;
MED with respect to STCW basic safety; MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats;
Marine Basic First Aid.
Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties.
A valid Passport and Marine Medical.
The Company may require the Engine Utilities to take additional training courses in the following areas:
Occupational Health and Safety.
Oil Spill Response.
Accident/Hazard Investigation training.
Hazard Prevention Program.
Miscellaneous training aimed at improving an employee's performance. ex. Oxy-Acetylene & Arc welding basics, basic electrical skills and basic machining skills.
Oil and Chemical Tanker Familiarization
Permanent residents not in possession of a C1/D Visa for entry into the United States may be considered based on their other qualifications. Past tanker experience will be considered a major asset. Membership in the Unifor - Local 4401 is a requirement for employment on board our vessels. Those considered for the position are required to join the union as a condition of employment.
