Role Summary

This position will work closely with the Supervisor/Leadhand/Assistant Leadhand in monitoring and documenting all conditions pertaining to welds. They will fill in on production lines as required and will adhere to all Safety, Quality and Production guidelines.

**The successful candidate for this role will work at our new Magna Structures Heart Lake facility located in Brampton, ON**

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
Definitions:

\xe2\x80\x9cWorker\xe2\x80\x9d means a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation but does not include an inmate of a correctional institution or like institution or facility who participate inside the institution or facility in a work project or rehabilitation program.

Duties of Workers

28. (1) A worker shall,

(a) work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations;

(b) use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker\'s employer requires to be used or worn;

(c) report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; and

(d) report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.

(2) No worker shall,

(a) remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by his or her employer, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;

(b) use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or

(c) engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct. * Follow Magna\'s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Teardown assembled parts and monitor weld quality on all production.
  • Record statistical data from teardown and ensures it corresponds to specifications.
  • Notify Supervisor and/or Weld Technician of any welds not meeting specifications.
  • Organize the use of available defective parts for weld test.
  • Communicate with Press Shop, Rework, and Material Handling, in an effort to maintain a good supply of useable defective parts for teardown.
  • Mark or paint defective parts for teardown to ensure defective parts do not reach customer.
  • When filling in for production technician, utilizes ANDON when encountering a quality issue or problem that hinders the completion of standardized work during cycle time.
  • Respond to ANDON calls in a timely manner to address and diagnose issues. Coordinate containment of any suspect parts.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
  • General maintenance such as keeping area clean and filing.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Key Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION:
  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED
SKILLS:
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant.
