Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Technical Assembler:

The Manufacturing Technical Assembler will play a significant role in the production of new systems and improvements to existing capabilities of the SWI team. In this role, you will:
  • Prepare and assemble material according to assembly procedures, custom specifications and quality standards
  • Perform hand soldering, inspection and rework of all thru-hole, SMT, mixed assemblies and custom parts as per Engineering specifications and IPC workmanship standards
  • Perform mechanical assembly and handling of small power tools as required
  • Program and test products using customized software and specialized equipment
  • Troubleshoot board assemblies using schematics
  • Complete final assembly and pack finished goods as required
  • Create, monitor and update processes and procedures that are required to complete daily tasks
  • Participate in training and certification programs to ensure job knowledge and skills set requirements are updated regularly
  • Participate in all team level ISO Quality improvement initiatives (liaise with Engineering, Production, Sales, etc.)
  • Completing other projects and tasks based on company requirements
Qualifications Required of the Manufacturing Technical Assembler :
  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, Technical Field or successful experience in a similar role
  • 2+ years assembly experience with ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints
  • Basic knowledge in Networks (understands networking, server and router system setup, equipment installation and video monitoring systems)
  • ESD and soldering training courses and/or work experience (IPC Certification is an asset)
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio (Linux knowledge is an asset)
  • Process oriented with a good track record of improving processes for better quality and productivity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Works well both independently and in a team environment
