Highly technical position. The candidate will be responsible for defining the manufacturing process "how it's made" based on quoted scope of work. This position will eventually evolve into a hybrid role to include project management.

? Contract Review to ensure scope of work meets quoted requirements. Work closely with Quoting, purchasing, CNC programming, and manufacturing team members:

o Review PO details for accuracy, review of all dwg's, documents and specs to correct revision

o Work closely with purchasing to ensure subcontracted and long lead time items are highlighted

? Define Manufacturing process plan for all new work (decide how the job is going to be manufactured) including but not limited to:

o Will need to develop product BOM and manufacturing plan in ERP system, and issue packages for the shop floor

o Sequencing of welding, machining, painting, assembly, subcontract operations etc.

o Define job traveller/router requirements and how it's going to flow on the shop floor to maintain traceability of product and scanning of hours on travellers for accurate job costing

o The job traveller/router becomes the roadmap to ensure successful processing. The level of detail required needs to consider the complexity of the part, number of units, number of operations, the various machining centres to be used, facilities, safety concerns, level of traceability, material handling requirements, transportation, packing, QC checks, 3rd party witnessing etc.

? Use CAD to create part stage operation drawings and fixture drawings when required

? Collaborate with supervisors, CNC programmers, purchasing, design engineering, and tool crib to finalize mfg. processes, fixture design, and ensure material is ordered and fixture/tooling is ready for the job when needed

? Following ABS established safety practices and procedures:

o It is expected that all communications and work instructions reinforce the importance of safety. Fixtures, clamping, material handling, crating, packing require careful consideration to potential risks.

? Other duties as assigned

Competitive salary based on experience

? Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Diploma or equivalent (minimum 3-year full time college program, or university engineering degree preferred)

? 8 years shop floor experience in CNC milling & turning, conventional milling & turning, and fixturing

? Strong knowledge of machine set-up, tooling, and CNC programming

? Strong understanding of technical drawings and GD&T a must

? Knowledge of welding and forming is a definite asset

? 5 years minimum CAD experience required. Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks preferred

? Strong understanding of lean manufacturing practices & principals is an asset

? Prior experience using ERP systems is an asset

? Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail

? Strong organizational skills, ability to organize own work effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities

? Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
