Manufacturing Engineering Technologist

Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer of high?precision, engineered components for multiple heavy?industry sectors, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist. This individual is responsible for the development, programming, optimization, and documentation of CNC/NC equipment, robotics, tooling, and gauging systems. This role supports production teams in improving process efficiency, solving technical issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities

  • Write, update, and optimize CNC programs for lathes and other programmable equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot industrial robots including Fanuc, OKUMA, Motoman, ABB, and Mitsubishi.
  • Maintain and improve NC/CNC processing records and documentation.
  • Design and coordinate tooling and gauging for new and existing products.
  • Analyze production processes and tooling requirements and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct method analysis and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve process flow.
  • Troubleshoot technical and process issues in collaboration with production teams.
  • Conduct time studies, root cause analysis, and data-driven problem-solving to improve performance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate routings, process drawings, APQP documentation, and inspection procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external customer specifications.
  • Support engineering change processes and production validation.
  • Manage multiple engineering and production support projects simultaneously.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience working in a CNC equipment or machining environment..
  • CNC Experience (CNC Lathes) with the ability to program from scratch, update, and optimize CNC programs.
  • CAD Software experience for creating drawings from scratch, including fixtures, tools, and process design.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or machine shop with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Robotics and Automation knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Go-getter attitude with the ability to work on the shop floor directly with engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
Work Environment
This role is part of the Engineering Team and requires reporting to the engineering supervisor. The position is highly hands-on, with approximately 60% of the work being on the shop floor and 40% desk/design work. The organization is a large machine shop primarily focused on CNC Lathes.
