Position summary

The Engineering Manager leads the Edmonton Technical Services group in alignment with the company's strategic plan. Through their knowledge and expertise they are responsible for overseeing the progress of our Engineering and R&D projects and provide timely technical support to Manufacturing and Sales. This position requires a hands-on leader who can support our strategic plan to achieve manufacturing excellence.

Leadership & Strategy

Lead and mentor Engineering and Technical staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Define and communicate clear goals, performance metrics, and development plans for team members. Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing operation, Sales, Corporate R&D to ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution.

Technical responsibilities

Acquire and maintain knowledge of industry performance requirements (NFRC and NAFS) Ensure accurate calculations, material selection, and design feasibility for both custom and standardized products and processes. Provide support to the development of product families, prototypes, and production-ready design processes. Validate engineering decisions impacting cost, safety, and manufacturability before submitting to the final approval.

Process & Product Development

Partner with Corporate R&D to oversee and enhance the full lifecycle of product development--from concept through production release. Drive process optimization initiatives through software improvements, automation, work methods and better data management using a Lean Manufacturing approach. Collaborate with the Production team to streamline design-to-fabrication transitions, ensuring clarity and consistency.

Technology & Software Innovation

Collaborate with IT and process teams to integrate software enhancements that improve Scheduling, Training, Workflow visibility, and KPI tracking.

Performance Management

Establish and monitor KPIs (e.g., Project turnaround time, quality rate, and production readiness). Use data-driven insights to identify trends, remove bottlenecks, and improve performance across teams. Develop and present yearly performance reports to the Plant Manager to demonstrate results, risks, and opportunities.

What will you need to succeed?



Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field

5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with strong understanding of manufacturing processes.

Expertise in product design, engineering principles and design-for-manufacturability

Technical aptitude and ability to think logically

Strong interest and knowledge in process improvement and manufacturing would be considered an asset

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Project management; capable of leading projects through to completion in a timely manner.

Proficiency with CAD software

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail for leading several projects simultaneously

Ability to adapt to changing conditions and prioritize daily, weekly, monthly workloads

Passion for leading change

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
