Position Overview
This role supports the resolution process of unscheduled design engineering related production issues. It will be responsible for conducting basic diagnostic routines and ensuring workmanship instructions have been followed.
Key Responsibilities:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
Support supervisor, suppliers, engineering specialists and other departments to execute job assignments consisting of meeting specifications and performing calculations, analysis, and material and component selection.
Provide daily technical support to production supervisors and assemblers.
Participate in cost studies, project time estimation, and technical proposals.
Process engineering information through change notices, change proposals, Continuous Improvement Requests (CIR), etc.
Coordinates with vendors and/or customers to meet customer requirements.
Reviews legislative and regulatory proposals or actions to determine impact on projects.
Provide design and integration support for vehicle control/embedded systems development.
Utilize various engineering tools, i.e., a personal computer (PC) or (CAD) equipment, in assigned projects as applicable.
Perform weight distribution calculations for sales estimates and for production mixers.
Recommend truck chassis layout and configuration customer and compare with chassis on arrival.
Complete a production check sheet for each mixer to ensure fitment of all components and develop any specialty components or brackets that are required. Notify if any chassis components need to be relocated.
Transfer mixer component layout to truck chassis for production readiness.
Create and revise drawings. Perform other engineering-related tasks as required i.e., analysis, bills of material creation, manufacturing support, layout work, and supplier contact.
Direct support of suppliers and test programs to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs.
Check work to ensure accuracy of spelling, drawing format and organization, dimension and tolerance convention, and conformance with Engineering Standards.
Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Company. Conduct duties consistent with the Company's mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
2-4 years related manufacturing experience with on or off highway heavy machinery
Experience with SolidWorks PDM software
Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
Experience with manufacturing processes such as fabricating, welding, and machining
Experience in one of the following systems: Hydraulics, Controls, Electrical, Hybrids, CNG, Chassis/Body Integration
Proven experience with MRP/ERP systems (J.D. Edwards preferred).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Hands-on mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively on the shop floor.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
