Hansen Industries is a metal fabricating manufacturer that specializes in Sheet Metal, Machining and Stamping solutions in Western Canada and Northwestern USA and has been around since 1976. We are seeking a permanent, full-time Manufacturing Engineer specializing in sheet metal manufacturing and process improvement to join our dynamic team.

Position Summary


In this critical role, you will support the manufacturing team by ensuring the smooth execution of manufacturing and engineering processes. You will collaborate closely with engineers and production staff to assist in the design, development, and implementation of sheet metal components. Your expertise will be vital in driving efficiency and enhancing the quality of our manufacturing operations.

Position Details:


Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm, flexible hours
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000, depending on experience

Provide essential technical support to engineering and production personnel by assisting in the development of manufacturing processes, creating detailed drawings, and generating specifications for sheet metal components. Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot design and production issues, proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and quality. Apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement to discover and eliminate waste, improve quality, and optimize value-added activities. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand the necessary dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements for sheet metal components. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify detailed drawings and specifications for sheet metal components or assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, manufacturing feasibility, and industry standards. Participate in the development and fabrication of prototypes or samples of sheet metal components. Collaborate with the production team to ensure proper material selection, accurate measurements, and adherence to design specifications. Conduct tests and evaluations to validate prototype performance and functionality.

Minimum Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field. Must be registered or eligible for registration with EGBC or ASTTBC. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering role. Experience using 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, TruTops Boost, or Radan for creating and modifying NC programs. Ability to interpret engineering designs and specifications. Ability to interpret and apply GD&T principles. Experience with 3D CAD modeling sheet metal parts and assemblies. Knowledgeable in Graphical CNC programming using DiamondNEST for punch and laser programming. Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing ERP software is considered an asset. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt considered an asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, engineers, and stakeholders. Ability to problem-solve collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and quality control personnel. Willing to adapt quickly in a multitasking environment. Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
