Reporting to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer\xe2\x80\x99s role is to evaluate, improve, and develop new production processes. The engineer will audit manufacturing processes and leverage the support of Production, Quality, and Maintenance departments to raise standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Apex operates 24/7 and your role will primarily require office hours during the day shift, but will sometimes require time spent on other shifts to align and train the production team across all shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define manufacturing procedures and standards and audit the process to drive productivity and quality improvement.
  • Investigate causes of scrap and implement countermeasures to improve recovery.
  • Document procedures in technical documents and write Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing principles to identify areas to improve.
  • Implement improvement plans by utilizing external and internal resources.
  • Manage and create drawings (AutoCAD and OnShape) for equipment layouts, components, and assemblies.
  • Specify technical requirements and seek quotations from suppliers and contractors.
  • Assess equipment and propose improvements to increase productivity, reliability, safety.
  • Design, source, and implement new tools and techniques for the manufacturing process
  • Research and specify manufacturing systems and equipment to expand capabilities, reduce costs, and develop best practices within the production process.
  • Support in installing of new equipment\'s and drive changes to existing equipment.
  • Other duties, as assigned
Knowledge/Experience and Skills:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent diploma in manufacturing engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and electronics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Computer program proficiency:
  • Microsoft suite including Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • 3D CAD, e.g., SolidWorks or OnShape
  • AutoCAD
  • Lean manufacturing skillset and practical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Expertise in math and unit conversions
  • Comprehension of technical drawings and layouts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and draw from resources as required.
