The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in the complete industrialization of newly developed products and the implementation of innovative processes. Within the engineering department, this position serves as a critical liaison, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and collaboration between product development and production teams.
A strong electronic background is essential, with demonstrated experience in circuit board printing, manufacturing, and the instrumentation of measurement systems.
Responsibilities
Industrialization
Develop, update, and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing with consultation to the production department
Establish, revise, and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes
Ensure accurate and current product information within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Collaborate with development and production teams to enhance workflow efficiency
Documentations for all design files
Manage and address requests from the production team regarding BOM revisions and design modifications
Oversee and manage the design change log and design revision control
Streamline assembly workflows in response to production team requests
Define quality protocol and NC procedure
Train and support staff on QA/QC procedures to reinforce a culture of quality
Product Prototypes
Order and build the "look-like-final-product" prototype ensuring adherence to specifications for casing, artwork, and engraving
Validate the manufacturability for the product
Develop comprehensive documentation of the manufacturing process based on prototype development
Make estimation of COGS based on the prototype runs
Notify and work with the marketing team for promotional material (photoshoot)
Facilitate the transfer of knowledge regarding ordering and assembly procedures to the production team
Logistics and Supply Chain
Ensure design is for manufacturing with the development team
Support and be consulted on research for alternative parts, components, fasteners, and cables
Evaluate and qualify suppliers, and integrate design adjustments with the development team as needed
Offer expert guidance to the production team in instances of non-conformity
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality incidents
Monitor and analyse production data to identify non-conformities and recurring issues
Equipment upkeep and maintenance
Collaborate with the software engineer to maintain production scripts (Python)
Optimize equipment ergonomics based on requests from the production team
Participate in the routine maintenance of calibration equipment
Review and ensure adherence to equipment safety procedures
Develop and update manuals for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation System Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
3-5 years of experience in a small-scale production environment, with a preference for the electronics or measurement device industry
1-2 years of experience managing Bills of Material (BOM) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes, ideally for sensors and electronics
Proficiency in at least one PCB design software
Knowledge of PCB testing, firmware flashing, and design validation
Understanding of coding principles and Python programming
Demonstrated ability to quickly solve problems, identify root causes of non-conformities, and possess a strong troubleshooting mindset
Hands-on experience in building and testing complex hardware
Assets:
Bilingual French and English
Solid understanding of quality assurance and control principles
Proficient in using mechanical CAD software
Licensed engineer in Quebec or in Ontario
