Skills and Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or College Diploma in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
Working experience in Electronic Assembly related specific technologies both in automotive and non-Industry.
Knowledge of the process development project and APQP standards.
Knowledge of highly automated assembly line & lean manufacturing processes.
Knowledge OF PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron)
standards considered and ESD and electronic manufacturing standards. Considered as plus knowledge of Welding,
and/or EOL testing
Working knowledge of APIS software
Experience working with overseas integrators
Willing to travel overseas at times
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for laying-out the manufacturing process (required in-house) for new products and providing estimates on cycle times, capital, tooling, special purpose gauges and other resource requirements (floor space, manpower etc.) to assists in new program quotation process.
Work with the Product development team to support DFM activity for manufacturing, starting in early stages of product design and development. Review and advise on product design in different stages of development with regard to product design for manufacturing.
In charge for the development of in-house manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tooling. Ensures the process is suitable for application, functional, practical and ergonomically sound and material handling solutions match to the overall system being implemented.
In charge for the planning, development and implementation of efficient and reliable processes and proper process control activities, Error proofing, lesson Learned and Standard Hanon procedures.
Establishes the gauging requirements for process control by operator and the list of gauges (all-purpose and special-purpose) required on the floor.
Responsible for the generation of the required process control documents for the in-house manufacturing processes (Process Flow, Control Plan, PFMEA, Process Specifications / Drawings, Tool Path, Tool List, Work Instructions, TPM schedules, etc.).
Responsible to do market research for cost effective, reliable solution and support technological advancement.
Establishes floor layouts based on manufacturing process and equipment requirements.
Working closely with all departments, the Manufacturing Engineer will take ownership of projects from "Cradle to Grave". The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for certain plant locations as well as individual projects. He/she is responsible for supervising continuous improvement/process improvement activities.
Supervises the process of cross-functional generation and review of process FMEAs with the support of the Plant Area Process and Manufacturing Supervisors. Administers the PFMEAs and ensures that they are routinely updated.
Supports the Program Manager in the development of DFMEA and prototype builds
Supports in the development of Process Control Plans and Process Flow Charts
Reviews/specifies fixture design, feeds and speeds and specifications of cutting tools. Follows up with fixture and tooling vendors as required.
On assigned projects follows the entire build/purchase of CNC, special purchase equipment and fixtures from purchase order to PPAP and into production. Fundamentally responsible for successful launch of manufacturing processes on the shop floor.
Provides manufacturing engineering support to his/her assigned area within the Company as required by each department during and after program launch.
Prepare a work schedule with interim end target estimates for all projects within his/her responsibility.
Support APQP Team and Program Managers with the creation of technical specifications for the purchase of machining centers, assembly and wash equipment.
Analyze and improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness).
Search out and implement new technologies and Continuous Improvement opportunities.
Manages and updates tool drawings.
Initiate plans and ideas for cost reductions and/or quality improvement measures. Supports the QA department when required with customer concerns and corrective actions for 8D responses.
Maintain proper filing system to ensure all information are properly stored and easily retrieved.
Coordinates and manages "run-offs" at equipment vendors against "acceptance criteria" as specified in the Technical Specifications for purchase.
Responsible for set-up information and operator instructions to the production floor, as well as creation and maintenance of job books.
Initiates DOEs for new tools and follow through with formalized reporting to management.
Support warranty occurrences and cost reduction efforts
Work closely with global manufacturing team
Collaborate with overseas integrators as required
