Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Technician to join our team. The Block Salvage Technician is responsible for inspecting and machining industrial application engine blocks.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with both power and hand tools. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and systems, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.
Duties
Make accurate and cost-effective recommendations for individual part repairs.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various equipment and machinery.
Utilize power tools and hand tools effectively to complete tasks.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement solutions promptly.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met.
Document maintenance activities and report any significant findings to management.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Machinist Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required.
Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify.
Multiple years' working experience and competency in a crank, block salvage or machine shop.
Previous experience machining engine blocks.
Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using power tools and hand tools.
Ability to demonstrate accuracy in measuring skills.
Ability to read and understand technical documentation.
Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.
Strong organizational skills and ability to follow work instructions.
Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A willingness to learn new skills.
