Chebucto community net is a small non-profit organization, originating in Halifax, NS. We have been striving to provide affordable internet since 1994. We are primarily volunteer run, except for a few paid customer service positions such as this one.

About the Job

As a Manor Representative, it will be your job to go to the various government run apartment buildings, colloquially referred to as the manors, and help our customers with their tech issues. While we focus on getting people connected to our wi-fi network, most of our clients are seniors, and so you might also need to give our customers some rudimentary info on browsing the web, or help reset a password. This is an extremely part time position, and you should only expect to work a handful of hours on any given week.

Ideally, this position would include a brief training and onboarding process in Halifax, NS. Afterwards, you would be in charge of assisting our members who reside in Sydney NS. If you are unable to make it to Halifax NS for training, virtual training would be possible, but in that case it would be preferred if you had a basic understanding of how wi-fi technology works, and basic customer service skills.

The Ideal Candidate:

Is able to attend brief training in Halifax NS, which would happen over one or two days. Alternatively, a person with basic customer service skills and a basic understanding of wi-fi technology will be considered. Is able to routinely go to, or lives in Sydney NS, and is able to go to government run housing to assist customers with their tech issues. Understands and is able to explain how to connect devices to wi-fi networks. Has a good relationship with seniors.
