About the job

The Managing Director of Engineering leads our internal and external engineering efforts and is responsible for the entire UGEngineering business unit (including procurement). This means supporting the entire life cycle of the project from inception to long-term asset management for UGE projects, as well as engineering services for others firms in the community and commercial solar spaces. It also includes securing hard materials from a network of suppliers and bringing UGE\xe2\x80\x99s volume of projects to bear in negotiating favorable terms. The sky is the limit on growth potential in this role. Today the team includes 4 direct reports and a team of 12, but our internal pace of growth + opportunity in the market will necessitate quick, thoughtful expansion. The role reports to our COO.

Accountabilities:

• Recruit, manage, and develop the engineering team
• Deliver engineering services on-time and on-budget
• Procure materials for each project
• Negotiate favorable contracts with suppliers
• Engage with UGE leadership to grow the business thoughtfully and influence decision-making in positive ways
  

• Clear communicator, motivated self-starter, demonstrated leadership experience managing similar organizations or business units (with 5-25 direct reports)
• Systems-based thinker and problem solver with a native curiosity and drive for improvement
• Understanding of financial and resource management

• Experienced (solar) engineer in all aspects of electrical design, low & medium voltage power systems
• Experience in managing technical resources

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent (Electrical preferred)
• Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree preferred
