We are currently seeking a Managing Consultant, Environmental Scientist to join our team in Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB, Toronto, ON, or one of our other Canadian offices. Applicants may be based remotely but should be willing to travel occasionally to one of ERMxe2x80x99s offices or to a client site, as needed. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects for ERM clients across Canada. The primary emphasis is on environmental effects monitoring programs for mining clients where success relies on integrating study design and interpretative efforts across multiple technical disciplines (aquatics, fisheries, water quality, toxicology, geochemistry). This posting is designed for a resourceful, motivated person who enjoys problem-solving and working within a challenging and fast-paced multi-stakeholder environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the technical portions of major components of EEM programs within the candidate's areas of technical knowledge, or provide project management leadership for the broader program as part of a team.
• Provide technical input and guidance to team members within the candidate's areas of technical knowledge, emphasizing the importance of: a) applying technical expertise across sectors and regulatory jurisdictions, and b) integrating expertise on a given discipline with the contributions from other subject matter experts to achieve project objectives.
• Work on multiple projects, supporting management and execution of scope/budget/schedule to meet client's expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Support engagement activities with regulators, Indigenous groups, communities, and stakeholders as part of broader project teams.
• Execute activities such as assessment scoping, information requirements/requests, technical writing, data and regulatory research and review, collection, and integration of information needs from ERMxe2x80x99s other subject matter experts, delegating work to GIS, data compilation and desktop publishing assignments to support assessments, and develop recommendations for clients.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees worldwide.
• Contribute to preparation of technical proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
• Partake in ERM internal and external training opportunities to maintain and grow work-related skills and remain current on changes to regulatory requirements.
• Actively embrace and support ERMxe2x80x99s leading health and safety training and workplace environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRABLE SKILLS:

• M.Sc. in Toxicology. Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries or another related technical field is preferred. A B.Sc will be considered if combined with substantial practical experience. Or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years (7+ years preferred) of consulting experience in the design and delivery of aquatic effects monitoring programs, ideally for sites both in British Columbia and the North. Regulatory and/or industry experience will be considered as well.
• Registration, or eligibility to apply to become a registered professional to be considered a Qualified Professional for oversight of and/or certifying regulatory deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability for integrative approaches, particularly with respect to developing technical deliverables for environmental assessment and permit applications for mining projects. Experience with human health risk assessments for environmental assessments (or contaminated sites risk assessment) is a particularly valued qualification because of its importance in a integrated approach for project delivery.
• Excellent writing, communication, organization, and time management skills.

An employeexe2x80x99s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employeexe2x80x99s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.
