Qualifications:
Essential:
Thorough knowledge of and experience with the Court system including The Court of Appeal, The Court of Queen's Bench, and The Provincial Court.
Thorough knowledge of and experience with the Youth Criminal Justice Act and Child and Family Services Act.
Experience interpreting and advising on the application of Court system regulations, statutes, rules and policies.
Experience tracking, saving, organizing, indexing, and archiving paper and electronic files.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to explain judicial concepts, policies, and practices to audiences.
Excellent written communication skills.
Experience in team leadership and supervisory skills including coaching and mentoring of staff and monitoring team performance.
Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including contractors and service providers.
Strong task organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
Desired: Experience with ForTheRecord (FTR) Player, Manager, and Log Notes.
Experience using recording equipment related to analogue tapes including BM-147 transcriber and duplication machine.
Duties:
The Manager of Transcription Services Unit (TSU) is a member of the Court Operations Management Team and reports to the Director of Winnipeg Court Operations. The Manager performs complex, specialized and administrative duties, involving a high degree of initiative and is responsible for the management of the Transcription Services Unit encompassing all courts throughout the province. This position oversees 3rd party service provider. Conducts quality checks regarding transcript format, accuracy and service delivery. Provides direction and assistance regarding interpretation and application of regulations, statutes, rules and policies. Provides guidance to 3rd party service provider regarding transcript format, names, spellings and any unusual issues that may arise. Provides additional material requested in order to produce transcript, i.e. exhibit lists, written reasons et cetera. Provides feedback on any issues or corrections that may be required.
