ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Build and Evolve the Foundational Compensation Backbone and Processes of the Organization
In this newly created position, the Manager, Total Compensation is responsible for the critical functions of developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive compensation and benefits strategies that attract, retain, and motivate top talent in the competitive mining industry. This role is the steward of the full stack Total Compensation eco-system for the organization.
Under the direction of the Vice President, Human Resources, this hands-on role provides both strategic thinking and operational expertise to oversee all aspects of our total rewards programs, including short-term incentives (STIP), long-term incentives (LTIP), Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), benefits administration, compensation management, production bonus and employee recognition programs.
This position is responsible for managing complex compensation structures while providing strategic oversight and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across the operations of the organization. It is also responsible for understanding the compensation landscape and monitoring the organization's competitive position in the market, identifying emerging trends and risks, providing leadership to relevant HR projects, and acting as a liaison to the senior leadership and HR teams.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
Master's degree or MBA preferred
Professional certifications such as CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist), SHRM-SCP, or equivalent strongly preferred
Experience Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits administration
3+ years of hands-on experience with complex incentive plan design and administration (STIP, LTIP, equity compensation)
3+ years of management or senior individual contributor experience with strategic oversight responsibilities
Experience in the mining, natural resources, or heavy industry sectors preferred
Proven track record managing multiple compensation programs simultaneously
Technical Skills & Competencies
Advanced expertise in compensation philosophy development and salary structure design
Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, pay equity requirements, and securities regulations
Strong analytical skills with experience using HRIS systems, compensation software, and advanced Excel functions
Experience with equity administration platforms and stock plan management
Benefits administration experience including group insurance, pension plans, and wellness programs
Project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple complex initiatives

Location:
Toronto, Ontario with hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Travel:
Occasional travel to mine sites (limited)
