The Geriatric Mental Health Services (GMHS) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is dedicated to the provision of specialized, interprofessional assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to older persons with mental health concerns, with or without addiction issues.
The GMHS is currently recruiting a full-time, permanent Manager to oversee a Geriatric acute inpatient (GAU) unit. Reporting to the Clinical Director of the Adult Neurodevelopmental, Geriatric and Social Support Services in the Complex Care and Recovery Program, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing 24/7 operations of 25 beds geriatric admission unit. The focus of this unit is on the acute stabilization of symptoms and active treatment utilizing interprofessional approaches that integrate mental health and addictions with geriatric perspectives for clients 65 and older.
The manager will support a team of interdisciplinary staff. Priorities in this position include leading significant strategic initiatives to enhance integration and collaboration of the services within the portfolio and across CAMH in order to improve effectiveness and access to care. The manager will be responsible for defining performance management objectives, establishing operational performance standards and quality improvement initiatives while monitoring daily clinical operations of the services. The manager will be accountable for budget oversight of all services, monitoring clinical volumes, allocating and redistribution of resources and reporting on quality metrics and scorecard targets. You will support the strong academic and research mandate of the organization and manage development opportunities in addition to supporting CAMH\xe2\x80\x99s vision of extending our reach as a world class academic centre in mental health and addiction. This mandate includes a focus on both the educational experience of trainees, and the ongoing professional development of staff.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a related field combined with five (5) years of experience in clinical management. Regulated Healthcare Professional is required as is specialized knowledge of mental health and addictions, while all health care professionals with Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree will be considered, a Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Nursing is preferred. Specific knowledge of the Geriatric patient population is preferred. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, work collaboratively and implement strategies and find the best approach or solution to highly diverse challenges is required. A strong track record of developing partnerships. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise the work activities of others and to provide leadership, in addition to excellent organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as excellent writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software. The ability to work with persons of diverse ethnoracial and cultural backgrounds is also required along with conflict resolution skills. The ability to manage budgetary and statistical data is required. You must have knowledge of human resource management practices in a unionized environment as well experience with and knowledge of the performance review/management process. Other skills that would be an asset are a flexibility to adapt to and manage changing priorities, experience in establishing data collection and reporting infrastructure, experience leading change management processes. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
